Casey Taylor: NFL Linebacker Kenny Pettway is spending his time off teaching kids the ins and outs of the game.
Kenny Pettway: I love, you know running down the field and playing in special teams.
Casey Taylor: His job to keep the other team down. But last year a Torn ACL forced him down.
Kenny Pettway: Kick off, running down, my foot got stuck in the ground, at the same time somebody grabbed by shoulder and it just blew my ACL out
Casey Taylor: Kenny had a cadaver ACL implanted, now he is using this new video game work out machine to help him get back into playing shape.
Russell Paine: Exercise is not fun, especially when you are pro-athlete and you can't do your thing, you need some thing to kind of give you a little competition, while you are doing the exercise and take your mind of the pain a little bit too.
Casey Taylor: Different games help rebuild the ACL. In this one Kenny has to control his knee muscles to control the blue bar. Another tests his power, another duration.
Kenny Pettway: Like a wet noodle shaking.
Casey Taylor: But what's it like compare to his past rehab?
Kenny Pettway: It is more challenging. It's a little bit more fun because you are playing a game and you try to beat your score, so at the end it gives you a graph and matches your scores up from the previous weeks.
Casey Taylor: This machine can also be used for hip and ankle injuries. After two months using the video game, he's progressed to this.
Male Speaker: When it was came here I was on crutches, now I don't use them anymore.
Casey Taylor: And says he'll be ready get back in the game this fall. I am Casey Taylor reporting.
