Visit Arhus, Denmark Aarhus is Denmark’s second largest city founded around 800A.D. The old town is a folk museum which illustrates life in a Danish market town around 150 years ago. The old town is an open air museum. It consists of 70 building s which were carefully taken down from all over the country and reassembled here at this location. All of the interiors are original with many open to the public for browsing. There’s a theater, pharmacy, artisan houses, bakeries, pottery, and jewelry shops all assembled together. Just south of Aarhus is the most guard pre-historic museum; an archaeological, an ethnographical museum. Relics here range here from farming implements to rune stones whose mysterious messages continue to call out sadly unheard since they are largely undecipherable. In this museum is one of Denmark’s rarest discoveries, the Grauballe Man who has been dated back to the 1st century B.C. and was found preserved in a nearby acid bog.
