Visit Belltown in Seattle, Washington
[Music Playing] Todd Williamson: Bell town is in the north end of Seattle, it is essentially between the space kneel to the north and markets at the south. One of the great things about living in Bell town is not only the diversity and the people and the culture and the things that you can do but the diversity in the architecture as well, you got buildings that were built in the 30’s and 40’s that are side by side with buildings that were built in the 90’s. Joan Calandra: It is sort of like a really small section that people that do not want to be like punk rock ass. You know punk rock dork are losers and levers, tattoos and drugs but they do not want to live outside downtown. [Music Playing] Pete Genest: Independent music is mostly what we carry here. Lots of Vinal, still believe in the Vinal, it is the superior format. I like looking out the big pictures and pulling out the lyrics sleeves. Bell town really change in that ten years that I have been here right when I moved up here I guess they kind of started to clean it up. We still had some dyed bars which were awesome, which are long gone. there was lots of drug dealing, great crack horse walking the streets which you still see a little bit of that stuff, this stuff we cleaned up quite a bit. It is going to be safer to people to live in the Condo’s. Crocodile café’s right on the corner, lots of dance plan there like pretty much every night of the week. Stephanie Dorgan: One of the things I think that is really important about the crocodile is that, it is an institution, Seattle does not have enough institutions. I think Bell towns unique neighborhood and that it is right adjacent to down town and to the water and so it is one of the easiest places to live. I do not have a car and still go out and do interesting things, when I first opened it was really abandoned and sort of forgot and sort of jam of an area adjacent to down town but with the different character now is pretty vibrant. We had the whole crunch thing we got, everybody and then the genesis of the music scene was the out so we were packed all the time with Seattle bands. Nirvana they were really famous, they do secret show here, strokes on their way up more recently if they Mathew and secrets stuff. France Ferdnap, Yokouno, Cheap Trick played three nights, they played a different album each night. Donna S. : I like working at Rudy’s because there is no formality, you do not feel it so you have to have your hair done before you come in to get your hair did. We do not really have as many like punker’s or people with Moning Mohawks, will you get a little bit of that too. We get pretty much all kinds of people. People who are not afraid to come to Bell Town anymore like they maybe were ten years ago. Sometimes people have to wait for a while and then they get to hang out but other times they come in and were like oh we can cut your hair right and they are like Darn it I want to hang out upstairs for a while. This is kind of my center Bell town, this building actually has a hotel, a clothing chop, a restaurant and a barbershop in it and they are all very cool and modern. Tiffany Miller: The Ace Hotel is what different from most of the major corporate kind of hotels. It is kind of like a family environment, you know you get people that recognize you and you recognize them. Two rooms have this, all the other rooms are different in lay outs, Bell Town is kind of off the beat and path a little bit, it is starting to get a little bit more popular. It is kind of a neighborhood community fill but there are still a lot of really hip things going on. There is a little place that opened that called the apartment, the See Sound is great. Viceroy is definitely really fun, Wasabe has a great puppy hour from 11 to 1 so if you get kind of a late night sushi fix, you can do that. Elliot Waldron: The neighborhood was quite different when I opened up. We had a lot of drinking on the street and people sleeping in the door ways, so over the pass 11 years the neighborhood has changed quite drastically. Ryan Howard: Bell Town is a young variant scene, it is really urban professionals, people have move from the outer areas back into the city and it is really kind of revived city life. First some blends is really the heart of the town, all the clubs have moved from this area. There is always something to do whether it is 12 O’clock in the afternoon or it is 12 o’clock at night you can always find something open, most people come to Bell Town do not know how to play pool. They are here just to have fun and rent a pool table. Most people kind of grasp the game but they are not going to know the real rules. I personally do not know how to play pool.
