Veronica Hill: Hi! I am Veronica Hill, your California travel expert and today we are going zip lining at the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park.
Flightline is the longest zip line in the continental United States. It’s two-thirds of a mile down. It is a little scary at first but you could actually see the animals looking up at you and it is incredible experience.
We begin our two-hour adventure outside Lorikeet Landing with a brief lesson on how to zip line with our flight line guide Brianne Johnson. Brianne explains that Flightline has multiple safety redundancies making it one of the safest zip line tours in California. My fears put to rest; we make our way up to the fledgling run for our first taste of zip lining. The practice run familiarizes you with the soaring and landing positions before your big flight
Female: All right. Say you want to have fun!
Veronica Hill: Following our practice run, we board the truck for the short drive to Condor Ridge. Along the way, Brianne explains some facts about the California candor and the parks breeding program which has been very successful. When we arrived at our destination, I slowly stepped out onto the metal platforms six stories above the ground at a 900 foot elevation.
Veronica Hill: Oh we’re pretty high up here.
It is a gorgeous view of the San Pasqual Valley but the thought of taking off makes my stomach turn.
Safely strapped in place, Brianne releases the tether and I fly down the course. My fear turns to amazement as I quietly soar above the valley taking in gorgeous views of the Asian and African wildlife.
I hope you have enjoyed this quick peek at the Park Zip Line Adventure. One-third of the profits benefit the Condor Conservation Program, so your adventure goes toward a very good cause. Now go make these reservations and have a great time.
