The fairytale town of Cesky Krumlov radiates around the Vltava River crowned by a castle tower.
Cesky Krumlov is one of 11 UNESCO world heritage sites located in the Czech Republic. Although it’s mostly known as medieval town, it has many impressive Baroque renaissance touches.
The name of the town comes from an old German word that means crooked metal and the web of winding streets and imaginative façades characterized the historic park. It dates is along ago with 1253 with an appealing myriad of architectural styles and the cherry shops that line the cobalt streets full of south bohemian specialties.
It’s a bike friendly town where the spirit of a middle ages continues in the château surrounded by a large garden and the park. The interior is splendid with architectural integrity from the 14th to 19th centuries remaining intact.
The second largest castle in the Czech Republic was founded by the Vtec family in the first half of the 13th century.
Three sites seeing routes enable a visitor to explore furnished renaissance Baroque and local co-interiors. The vast showcase of opulent items includes check made glass and crystal and evidence of enormous artistry. An original Baroque theater and the ornamentation of the masquerade hall are highlights as well as glimpses of the scenic town below.
There's an active graphite mine in the town where a museum outlines the areas mining history. Numerous cultural events and festivals marked the summer months in a hospitable and historic town of Cesky Krumlov.
