I-35 stretches from Canada to Mexico but some of the most unique stops along the way can be found right here in Kansas. The museum of world treasures in Wichita is just one example. This top-notch museum houses a curious collection of amazing items from ancient coins and fierce dinosaurs to well preserved Egyptian mummies. Continue trekking northeast for some fun in the sun at El Dorado Lake and state park with nearly 16,000 acres of parklands, wild life areas and reservoirs, the outdoor activities here are endless.
If your I-35 journey is in the autumn, take a quick ten-mile detour to Burns and visit Walter’s pumpkin patch. You can play all day in the corn maze, on the giant jumping pillow or at the pumpkin chunk in. The kids will love the barrel train and pedal cars. Getting back on I-35 cruise up to emporia and show your respect to America’s heroes at the all veterans memorial. This thought provoking memorial is the first in the nation to honor veterans from all wars. From there, trek over to Williamsburg and hit Home on the range orchard and winery for a freshly picked snack and some family fun. When you had your fill, head up to O Laka to check out the last remaining state coach stop along the Santa Fe trail.
See the life o the pioneer farmer, gathering the eggs, making biscuits from scratch and thriving the oxen at the happy stagecoach stop in Florida.
