You can go swimming in the ocean and skiing in the mountains all in the same day and the same state. Hi, I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to WatchMojo.com. Today we’ll be showing you the geography of California. Typical of Californian geography are foggy shorelines, alpine mountains and lush valleys. California is home to the biggest, most massive and oldest trees in the world including Redwoods and Sequoia’s. California is divided into northern and southern California with San Francisco and being part of the north and Los Angeles belonging to the south. To the west of California lies the Pacific Ocean. This section of water is bountiful, however because temperatures in the ocean rarely surpass 65 degrees. The sea life is most similar to an arctic environment. There are several volcanoes located in California. Examples include Manchester and Lassen Peak. Lassen Peak last erupted in 1917. Although it is famous for it’s warm beaches and it’s abundant snowcapped mountains there is much more to California’s geography that meets the eye.
