Gerlynn: In New York, whole streets are devoted to row upon row of art galleries. Galleries for the most part are free, low key, and if you really want to find the next Picasso? The gallery is the place to find them, buy them, and hang them on your wall.
How would you describe the gallery experience versus the museum experience?
Male: The galleries are free. There's more galleries in New York City than I believe any other city in the world. I believe in Chelsea, there are well over a hundred fifty galleries within about 10 blocks area. The price ranges from few hundred dollars, almost any galleries, to hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars. So there's a wide, wide range.
This major piece is Sebastian Tremor, he’s a Dutch artist. It’s about $40,000. There are pieces on the other wall, over there, that are much smaller that are more in the neighborhood of a $1000 to $1500.
Gerlynn: How do you pick which artist you bring in to the galleries?
Male: I think almost all the galleries reflect really someone’s personality and often the important artist also have an influence on what the gallery’s direction is.
