July the 30th, 2008, 6:40 in the afternoon, we just arrived in Peterborough now, we just to Port Hope in Cobourg into Peterborough and we are heading off to Lakefield after that where we are going to stay in a bit breakfast. And right where is the harbor area of Peterborough where every Wednesday -- and today is Wednesday obviously; every Wednesday and Saturday in the summer, they have free concerts and they are going to be held over there somewhere, there is a band show right there. And here is some -- the water front of Peterborough, I can’t honestly tell you what the name of this body of water is, I know the Otonabee river flows through Peterborough but this is sort of a bigger lake area around here now.
And I am just going to show you the water front here because there is a beautiful town in the back here. They also have a special event here in -- I think it's early summer, which is basically a special event with all boats that are lit up and I think that’s held once a year. There is a quite a nice little spot here in Peterborough. Trent University is located here so it’s a sort of a major regional town and not far from here as you can see Peterborough and the Kawarthas, there are a number of lakes that surround this area and it’s a very, very popular holiday region particularly for people from the Toronto area because its very, very close, close distance to the city.
And as you can see lookout view now but there is a huge fountain in the lake here, nice little lake, beautiful. The weather has cleared up nicely, it was raining earlier today. There are some houseboats here. The Trent-Severn Waterway goes just north of here and that’s a connection between basically the Atlantic and Hudson Bay, you know somewhere here in Trent come in and then goes up towards Lake Simcoe up into the Hudson Bay system. So anyway this is Peterborough for you.
