Sanur has been the second biggest resort of Bali for over a century. Foreigners settling on the island
prefer to buy a house for themselves here. The main attraction here is the Museum of Adrien Le
Mayuer, a Belgian painter who painted landscapes and inhabitants of the islands for decades. In Sanur
lying only 7 km from the capital, the first luxurious hotel of the island, the Grand Bali was built. Only
fishermen’s small boats used to set off from this bay but since the 1960s, it has become the hot spot for
foreign surfers.
Australian surfers discovered Sanur when they were looking for new places to surf. Today over 10 surf
