Rob Dalley: Austin used to be knows a hippie town in the middle of Texas, Blue Town and the Red State. When all of the got comers and the computer companies started coming into town, a lot of the locals moved out the downtown and North Austin and moved to South Austin. And typically, South Austin is where the heart of Austin of is, where a lot of locals will tell you, a lot of the locals, the hippies, the people that have been here for 20, 30, 50 years or longer. It is a very liberal town that is why you can solid candles and tattoo shops and record stores. All of the cool shops are in South Austin.

Male: We are in South Spruce right now. One of the things I love about South Spruce is they take on a lot of the whole Victorian Homes and turn them into cool shops, stores, and bars. This is one of my favorites, The Unemployed Democrats here, the anti-Bush fans, this is definitely the store for you.

Rob Dalley: And this town gives you idea how to relax way back it is. The official sport of Austin is disc off. And typically, you will find different groups of people who would go down there and bring a six pack or a bone and play off. Discs are little Frisbees. In fact, I have one because I play. Disc, it is like a little Frisbee that you hold a little bit differently or some like a Frisbee and basically you chunk it. As far as you go, you play the same game as you golf. So, most holes are par three and then your goal is to get into a basket and the lowest score wins and you just walk around in the woods and you enjoy the day.
Barton Springs Swimming Pool is definitely one of the best spots in town. It is the largest inner-city park next to Central Park in New York. It is a creek fed swimming pool that has been basically concreted off to make a big swimming pool for everybody. It is a city park so you pay like $3 to get in and you can then sit on a hill, sit down and sit on creek water while you are enjoying the heat, of Texas heat.
We are heading off the Guero’s here across the street on the South Congress. Guero’s used to be an old feed store and one of the locals turned it to a margarita bar. They also have good amigos and caseo here. This is a classic awesome dish. It is basically a melted cheese. Anywhere you go in South Austin, tacos max is one of the favorite foods in town, caseo and amigos on the top two you probably would find in any restaurant. The caseo is basically just cheese which has been melted.

Rob Dalley: We are on Blues On The Green, Zilker Park that happens every other Wednesday all summer long. They throw a big stage on here and bunch of various blue artists come down and play from like 7:30 to 9:30. It is probably about 5000 people here that are bringing their coolers down and their families. It is a free show too. It is one of the bonuses of living in South Austin.

Rob Dalley: The live music capital of the world. They have live music going on, it is about everywhere all the time and anytime you want to go and see live music, you can find it. They have probably more music clubs here per capital than anywhere else I have ever been including New York City. I moved in here almost three years ago and I moved here from Santa Barbara, California. In California, I have my own production company where I did – booked everything from bands, festivals to any type of art film that is what I have been involved in for the last 10 years. It is just too expensive in California. I cannot afford it. I went from a two bedroom cottage for $2000 a month to a two bedroom apartment for $600 a month when I moved here to Austin.
That is really the main reason why I left California. It is just got too expensive to live, but there is a lot of film, there is a lot of art, there is a lot of festivals here. It is exactly what I love to do and that is one of the main reasons I moved here because I felt like I could do what I love to do here which I could not do in California. A lot of it has to do with cost and a lot has to do with these people open to different art and music. It is a cool scene. It is probably the only town between the East Coast and West Coast that you would even consider living in.
