Luz Montez: This week we trip on a deal to the 2010 Winter Olympics.
John Palacio: How to get there, where to stay, how to nab the best tickets and how to avoid the price grouching.
Luz Montez: So let it go for the gold Vancouver 2010 on today’s “Trip on a Deal”
John Palacio: “Trip on a Deal” is produced by And Now media, consult their award winning team for your online ads, podcast and all your video needs at AndNow.com. February 2010 is all about Vancouver, the 21st Winter Olympic Games will be taken over this Canadian City. Hi, welcome to “Trip on a Deal”, I'm John.
Luz Montez: And I'm Luz. The city will host over 5000 Olympic athletes and officially representing over 8o countries and better yet there’ll be a lot of tickets up to the day’s game.
John Palacio: 1.6 million tickets for all the events, that’s a lot of tickets there.
Luz Montez: A lot of tickets.
John Palacio: And the best news most of this tickets will be priced well under a $100.00 a shot.
Luz Montez: That’s a lot of cheap tickets and many for as low $25.00, do you want to go?
John Palacio: Oh, yeah.
Luz Montez: Here’s your ticket to get in the go.
John Palacio: First off the official host city website is Vancouver2010.com, nice overview but you have better make friends with the Canadian right now because the tickets are only available to Canadians, how do you like that?
Luz Montez: I don’t like that.
John Palacio: No.
Luz Montez: Not a convoking size.
John Palacio: No.
Luz Montez: There are two authorized sellers for Americans however just at Sports.com and a its sister company Cosport.com but beware most of the opening and closing ceremony tickets had already been distributed to a lot of—
John Palacio: The remaining tickets will be available first come, first serve to facilitate have not been announced quite yet so keep watching and beware. Many other tickets will be link with expensive travel packages. You got to watch out for that because that’s how they get at you.
Luz Montez: That’s how they get you. How do you get there? Planes and to fly, as you can protect yourself by booking early. If it’s not your zone however consider traveling to Seattle then taking a train or a bus 120 miles to Vancouver to shore up and best carriers like GotoBus.com offer roundtrips for around $100.00.
John Palacio: Now if you plan to cross the US-Canada border, heads up. The border patrol crossing rules will change for the Olympics, birth certificate and a drivers license will no longer be enough so be sure to bring your passport and maybe watch in NBC from a Seattle motel room.
Luz Montez: Isn’t it lovely, ease of rental car and always get on wherever you go. Here’s a big heads up, don’t do it much of Vancouver will be closed to traffic.
John Palacio: Now, many of the venues will have a little or no parking as well. The good news there will be considerable public transportation available and everyone is encouraged as much they can to walk or bike.
Luz Montez: But don’t they have a lot to get around after all.
John Palacio: It’s a very outdoor city.
Luz Montez: Get moving. In fact a new rail link connecting down Vancouver airport to the city here has now just opened. Now, where to stay?
John Palacio: Vancouver is a big city. There is almost 25,000 hotel rooms but those pesky hotel operators they're already bulging.
Luz Montez: Oh, those pesky operators.
John Palacio: Now, we’re talking like $500.00 a night on that. That’s what we've been finding, two of the operators are buying up all the rooms in bulk as well so you may have to look for rooms in the outskirts if you want to find with this.
Luz Montez: Surrounding areas include Barnaby, Horseshoe Bay and Richmond thrives in breakfast or hostels or for house rentals which can be a great deal, check out this site Rent2010.net. They still have a lot of rooms available as of the taping.
John Palacio: Here’s another idea. Then Vancouver Board of Parks has created Vancouver2010RV.com. Basically they’ve turned two beach front parking lots into RV camps during the Olympics. So if you got access to an RV it is the deal of the Olympics.
Luz Montez: On the beach. We need a campsite. It will cost about $87.00 a night including shuttle service. They give it to nearest station of the town. No caveat, no cooks are available.
John Palacio: That could be ugly, but you know what, it’s worth it. There is always this adventurous but economical idea, CouchSurfing.com. You can rent a local sofa or a spare bedroom for a couple of night. There are tons available as of this taping.
Luz Montez: Long back coast surfing, another wacky idea if you have the cash, stay in another region cruise ship docked in Vancouver and NewwestTravel.com is offering this ad but beware.
John Palacio: Now you want a good idea of what you expect to at the games Vancouver2010.com has a great page of video pod casts that showcase all of the venues.
Luz Montez: And finally, you can’t get tickets to every event, right? So what else is they’re going to do in Vancouver. Well, this young, bustling city is an outdoor wonderland. In the winter months, in the winter, you may want to check out Stanley Park, a beautiful urban park and sea wall promenade.
John Palacio: You take the kids on a 15 minute ride on the park’s miniature rail way or visit the children’s farm land, also worth to visit there Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre. It’s got a beautiful showcase of iridescent jelly fish. This is gorgeous.
Luz Montez: I love nuisance iridescent jelly fish.
John Palacio: We love some jellyfish.
Luz Montez: Granville Island offers a great street shopping too. Who would like a jelly fish?
John Palacio: Of course, who doesn’t like jellyfish?
Luz Montez: Granville Island as I was saying offers great stalls of boutique and galleries. Also, worth a look, the gorgeous suspension bridge in Lynn Canyon Park.
John Palacio: You want more of Vancouver 2010 links, head to our website TripOnADeal.com.
