Greg: This is Greg and you are Doing Indy.
Seth: Hey, what’s up everybody? I am Seth and it’s a beautiful day at Indianapolis. So we had to come out of the Indianapolis Zoo. I know last year we’ve covered the Indy Zoo, but this year they got all kinds of brand new stuff. We had to see it all and we’re bringing you along to check it all out.
So we’re back in the zoo with our friend Sarah. We met Sarah last year when we did a whole show on the zoo. We covered everything that’s here, but Sarah I mean there’s some new stuff going on this year. It’s good to be back, but a lot has changes hasn’t it?
Sarah: Yeah it really has, and we’re so glad that you’re back to come see us and we think everybody should come down and see this new Oceans Exhibit presented by Old National Bank. It’s our newest exhibit and it’s exciting and you get to touch a shark.
Seth: I know. Well first of all I’m just excited that she’s excited that we’re back here. That’s what's really cool first of all. But what I love is that you kind of demystified the whole shark ocean experience for a lot of people don’t you.
Sarah: I mean we want people to first get a sense of the mystery of the oceans with the jelly fish and the eels and sort of the dark lighting. And then they come in here into the firestone gallery with the sharks and they get to touch an animal so that really bring it in close to home for them.
Seth: They’re not touching—they’re reaching over there and touching a Great White though right?
Sarah: No, these are smooth dog fish or dog sharks.
Seth: I got to touch a shark.
Sarah: Okay, let’s go let’s do it.
Seth: You know he may look all soft and fuzzy but you get in there, he’ll tear you to trash especially someone like me—a lot of meat in the bones.
They don’t just have animals here in the zoo they even got a really cool roller coaster. We got to ride it, check it out!
Alright no trip to the zoo is complete without coming in and visiting our buddy Lisa here. The dolphin dome at Indianapolis Zoo is the staple. I mean it’s the attraction that you have to come to and I’m glad that we’re back and its kind of cool because last time we’re here we’re doing a TV spot back in April and Lisa is a little more—we’ll she’s protruding a little more than last time.
So what’s great about the dolphin dome? Why should people come and check this out?
Lisa: Well for one thing, it just gives you a different perspective of the dolphin. It’s almost like you’re entering their environment because once your in you’re immersed in the water and you get a different view because the dolphins especially when they go over you, its just really cool. It’s like you’re under water with them and its just a really neat perspective.
Seth: What’s it like working with the dolphin. I mean how hard is it or how easy is it?
Lisa: They’re like kids. I mean you know you love them to death. Some days they’re spectacular and other days you’re about to pull your hair out because they do have their own personalities, sometimes they have their own agendas. They are individual little living beings. So it’s kind of like being a caretaker of children.
Seth: People are already starting to pile in to get that seat. What keeps these people coming back you know, day after a day, year after year to come and see the show?
Lisa: Dolphins just have this unique mystique that I can’t really explain. And of course with the splash area, the kids just love coming in and getting wet too.
Seth: It’s truly interactive at that point. Well we’re looking forward to seeing your show, you guys check it out!
You know this is how I know Doing Indy is going to be popular. We had people who know the show come up to us but I’m really kind of cheating too because this is Anna. Anna has been on our TV spots that we’ve done. Say hi to everybody Anna.
Anna: Hi!
Seth: And that’s her sister Alex.
Alex: Hi!
Seth: So you guys were just here at the dolphin dome seeing the show and what do you think?
Anna: I think it was really, really cool! They had us interact with all the dolphins, as well as show us how much in common we have with them.
Seth: Very cool! What about you Alex?
Alex: I love the show. I think it has gotten better each time I’ve come and I love how they use different objects and how the dolphins have learned different tricks. I think it’s amazing that—like wild animals can do that.
Seth: Everybody should come to this thing!
Anna: Oh yeah!
Alex: Oh yes, definitely!
Seth: Wow! What another great time at the Indy Zoo. I mean last year we came out here and covered this, we had to come back out and cover it again this year because there’s still so much to see and do here. I mean if you take last years show and you combine it with this year’s show you’ll see everything that the zoo has to offer. But the way to truly experience it is to get out here yourself and come walk the grounds and see all that they had to offer because it’s truly one of the best interactive zoo’s I have ever seen.
So for Doing Indy, I’m Seth and remember in Indianapolis, it’s always so easy to do so much you just have to get out there and do something. My camera guy is laughing at me because this is like take number three.
