Vlogging 101: Web Videos on a Shoestring Part 2
Part 2: Writing the Script
Female 1: I did not take the long to write the script but I think what we discovered was how much copy you need for a certain link video.
Keep copy short and direct.
Female 1: That was one challenge and the other challenges writing for somebody else that what I wrote is not necessarily comfortable for you say.
Interaction with writer and talent
Female 1: So there has to be some interaction there next time.
Female 2: You truly have to practice that. We found out that in filming the video, the first time we tried.
Practice script out loud
Female 2: And for me anyway it was actually practicing it infront of the mirror and talking the words out. Not just sitting and studying the lines. And I think they probably had a little bit too much copy.
Female 3: We have cut the original script down substantially and it was still maybe formative video.
8 lines text = 30 seconds video
Female 3: And then, I remember that about eight line of text translation to about 30 seconds of copy.
Female 1: On a video.
Female 3: Yes, on video, video or audio. So that is just a little tidbits plus the use going forward.
Female 2: I think it is also just goes to show that how quickly we could create the scripts. It sounds almost like a daunting task, but to only come up with eight lines for 30 seconds.
Female 3: You really have to be concise.
Female 1: Initial version that we did it was over five minutes long which was --it is just way too long in terms if you ever watched the video at any sites, it takes a long time to load. When we try to upload it to Facebook, they actually have a two minute link limitation. There are link limitations and size limitations for most of these sites.
Abide by length and size limits
Female 1: So, we went back and did a two-minute version.
Female 3: And at the end of our video we have our website, for more information and if it is too long they might not even get to that point, so if they are not getting to that point, so is they are not getting to that point, then what is the point of us doing the video?

Summing it all up:
Writing for someone else can be challenging. Talent should be comfortable with script.
Recite lines out loud and in front of a mirror.
8 lines of copy = 30 seconds of video.
Keep it short. Many sites have file length and size limitations, and you want to keep your audience hooked until the end.
