In the volcanoes initial stages, small eruption, each last in the few hours occur repeatedly over a period of weeks.
Spectacular orange mountains of Lava soar more than 100 meters into the air.
And the volcano reaches the pick of its activity; the fountain reach heights of more than 500 meters, taller than any structure build by man.
Expanding gas causes Lava to fall, breaking to small pieces. As it comes in contact with the atmosphere, some of them most of material hardens and become forest rock called Thomas, which fall to the earth in a firry shower.
But most of the Lava remains in liquid form and pours side of the mountain.
The cascading flows or molten rocks spread over the land, and eventually harden.
The result of this process is the land form known as shield volcano.
Shield volcanoes are formed in areas where magma is very fluid.
Repeated flows of Lava form layers of rock that build mountains with broad slopping sides.
