Female Speaker: Today I’m in Clubhouse Gas, were 7 ups in volleyball advise. That wasn’t in this.
To learn about some volleyball basics and drills, I have now friend with the show Volleyball coach Mary Buczek of the Lovett lines during one of the practices. Let me tell you one thing right now, this stuff is much better than the Lovett. The coach with me and on the first drill of the day.
Mary Buczek: Their playing positions that they don’t normally play, they are playing somebody else’s position and they’re having to learn, what another person might do. So, usually there is only one setter on the court. Everybody is learning what its like to be setter. The girls are overhand check the ball overhand, what we calls setter, its am I setting position.
Female Speaker: What are the other positions are there?
Mary Buczek: The other positions are attackers, hitters and under the one that you’re see now that take the swing at the ball, usually the third contact. We actually have with you other watch team but there is a girl that wear is the different uniform that anybody else. And that is a Libro, or you may here Libero,
Female Speaker: But it does properly pronounce Libero right?
Mary Buczek: Exactly, I always said libra, but if you ask it to players they’ll say Libero. Yeah, basically defenses specialist, and they can be on a court they have no substitution roles, to be more specific on positions you have an outside hitter, and this drill is all outside hitter or inside right now, we’re trying just to set the outside, which means the ball left from roll player. And then there is a middle blocker, who is a middle hitter, and has to block every single ball. They are and there is a right side hitter, who stands on the right side of the court in attacks the ball.
Female Speaker: So, our different abilities going to be better for the different positions.
Mary Buczek: Yeah, one of our things we look forward in a setter, a somebody with got a leaderships skills good verbal skills, and real in the faster they are in the better, usually, size you know again you won’t them to be you know top up, we have very short setter. So, we don’t want to discourage that even. Middle blockers are usually taller players they have to block, all the attacks, so they’re going to leave taller players and then our outside hitters are once back. Usually have a really good ball control, they’re consistent players, they have to take a lot of swings at the ball, and then the defense of players have to be rally good in getting love and lot of times there is a smaller shoulder lower to the ground player like our Libero, who’s is smaller.
Female Speaker: Yeah, now usually you want them to be quick and lower to the ground.
Mary Buczek: No, I just mean the six-foot girl can do that.
Female Speaker: But its can be harder.
Mary Buczek: Yeah, it’s a littler bit harder especially at this stage, they’re still learning it.
Female Speaker: Do they changing there up hear?
Mary Buczek: Yeah, when they stand them up and then switch to the different drill, where as lower can a little bit in this is serving. So they will having to step in and serve.
Female Speaker: I will love serve.
Mary Buczek: Let’s watch somebody this is the jump serve, but we want to starts on jump serve.
Female Speaker: Thank you.
Mary Buczek: Okay, but I think we’ll starts on a floater, let’s watch now in here, and this is what she is going to do.
Female Speaker: Not only Buczek.
Mary Buczek: Okay, either right handed?
Female Speaker: Right handed.
Mary Buczek: Okay, so you’re going to take the ball in your left hand. You play tennis?
Female Speaker: I have play tennis.
Mary Buczek: Okay, so you can toss the balls slightly above your head and it right shoulder. Okay, but you can put arm up here by your head, yeah.
Female Speaker: Okay.
Mary Buczek: And then you’re going to step on to your left foot, put all weight on it, toss and contact.
Female Speaker: Okay.
Mary Buczek: Middle on the hand, middle on the ball, is that simple?
Female Speaker: That’s simple.
Mary Buczek: Lets have given a hi-five, you want give the ball and hi-five. Middle on the hand and middle on the ball, at all you need to know.
Female Speaker: Okay. We always set behind the line.
Mary Buczek: Alright, yeah. And then you can serve from one side the end line to the other, you can pick anywhere you want to serve. That’s a new drill in the last three years.
Female Speaker: Really?
Mary Buczek: Use to be only certain in area that court you could serve from. When I played there was a little section in the right back.
No more stalling it was time to share these girls were I was made those.
Mary Buczek: Contact. Where you go?
Female Speaker: Despite some more great advice from coach Buczek, and some of my new friends, I never managed to get the ball over the net.
Female Speaker: Al right, I’m -- has the big ball throw that soft ball from up there.
Female Speaker: I and did my David some words of wisdom from Jr. Casey Melia,
Female Speaker: find the wall and play against it. Like the wall is your front. Like I am not even hitting, hit against it pass against it and set against it the wall is always win. So, you just got a fight for you. And just go after everything on the wall. And you’ll get better.
Female Speaker: Okay.
Female Speaker: The wall is your front, you had to right here.
Female Speaker: Thank you so much
