Vuzix iWear AV 310 Review
AJ Vickery: I feel like any second you are going to say take me to your leader.
Mike Agerbo: I kind of feel determinate.
AJ Vickery: But actual fact we’re taking at look at a technology and you may have seen this before but essentially it is made by a company called Vuzix and it is full screen. How many inches are we talking about?
Mike Agerbo: There is actually two high resolution little screens inside these glasses. I mean it projects up to like a 15-inch plus screen when you kind of compare it you know up to your eyes.
AJ Vickery: It is what you’re looking at and you know I have always been a bit of critic of this technology. Well like as you know I'm thinking myself are you realistically going to watch video through these glasses when you have the option of another mobile device with the iPhone or even in your house for that matter.
Mike Agerbo: Take this off for a second. Well this size their AV310 model and it is designed to work with iPod. So I like the iPod touch and the video iPods. Even the Nanos as well those are capable of doing video. My kids have actually used them and they like them.
AJ Vickery: Okay!
Mike Agerbo: But essentially it has got the little iPod connector. You have plug it in to the bottom of your iPod and you’re basically good to go. The battery on this takes basically a double-A battery but it lasts for up to 11 hours which is not bad. What you do essentially is just cue up the video that you want to play and you're pretty well good to go. It has got the built-in earphones that you have not plug in yet. But what I like about it is—I got weird ears.
AJ Vickery: Yeah!
Mike Agerbo: Your fully immerse in the experience. If I have to choose between watching a movie or TV show on my iPod or that, I would choose that because it is a lot more comfortable. You just kind of to sit back and you got that whole experience going.
AJ Vickery: Yeah it is true. I do have the full screen in front of me and it is wide screen picture. I have got lots of peripheral vision right now as well.
Mike Agerbo: So of the air line that tends to come by. Would you like a coffee?
AJ Vickery: Yeah I can definitely deal with that. I can definitely deal with that I might take them off for the past though.
Mike Agerbo: Yeah!
AJ Vickery: I do not know if I’d be really be that comfortable wearing this for a full hour movie like there are a little bit heavy and I can feel that on the bridge of my nose.
Mike Agerbo: Well, it is got the adjustable nose pads here as well so you can actually adjust this to fit your particular snosh basically.
AJ Vickery: I am not used to wearing glasses either so again this is just a little bit of a different feel for me but it definitely an interesting thing to do. What will be cool as if you had to give a presentation to somebody and you actually made them wear these glasses? Think about the experience that would be actually be pretty cool.
Mike Agerbo: From Vuzix it is part of their iWear line and this is one make specifically for iPods but again if you are doing a lot of traveling, you're in the kids in the car. This is a great way to get them fully immerse in whatever TV show or movie that they’re watching, great for airplanes as well.
AJ Vickery: Yeah, I will give them another try?
