DJ Ty from agi@prodj.com. I’m showing you one of the many features of the brand new SL3 Interface by Rane for Serato Scratch Live. That’s the new SL3 Interface and I’ve got to hook it into my Pioneer right here, Pioneer DJM 800, two Pioneer CDJ-800 MK-2, Apple MacBook Pro. Run the Serato Scratch Live, version 1.9. That really is candidate three so this thing should almost out and my iPhone but this could be also be an iPod touch. And there’s a little free MIDI App and if I bust out of it, it’s going to reset itself. So do a search for MIDI and then ITM MIDI and you’re applying the App that I’m using here.
What I’ve got here is 16 pads kind of like a trigger finger from M-Audio. And what I’ve done is I’ve got in the mini mode on Scratch Live and I have assigned MIDI to the play buttons for the assemble decks on Scratch Live. I’ve got them set to the mode where when you hold down, just three different modes so I put it here. Three different modes, this one is going to make it play an infinitely loop. This one, only as long as you hold it and then this loop is start. But for demonstration sake, I’ve got to set to that mode. And then it’s just like that.
Anyway, that’s MIDI control using a MIDI device and I just happen to be using my iPhone but you can use an iPod touch to do that as well. And the cool thing is that using the SL3, I have the Auxiliary out. And the AUX out is actually coming here and going into channel one on my mixer. So, I have independent game control for all my samples. I can affect them, anything you can do on a particular channel. You can do it to the AUX out running into a channel. And that gives you the control to manipulate that extra channel of audio as well as the two decks that are playing.
Well, let’s say you’re playing live and you need a loop for something that you want to have looped in that sample, drop sampler. Well a lot of times, even if you’re not going to tell us, they’re not pre-looped or pre-set from we’re getting so. So, we can set a loop here real quick. It’s a four beat loop. Not perfect but for demonstration sake, click on the save icon. Now when I load, I’m going to take it back to the old school loop onto this deck. See the little green region there? That green region is the loop section that I just loop in Scratch Live. So now I can put my beat right decker.
So, you can do all that stuff on the fly. There are independent game controls for each one of the sample deck so you can do that on a Scratch Live Interface as well as through the AUX out. So that’s one of the many things that you can do with the brand new SL3 Interface for Serato Scratch Live. Pool set MIDI control, sample player running on a version 1.9.
I showed you the AUX out, I showed you the other videos, there’s a lot’s more to do with this, enhance hardware and improve sound quality more at head room. You can read all about that on the web.
