Coming up next on the list, one of my personal all time favorites, he’s number was 34.
He played with the Bears if you still don’t know who I’m talking about you should
probably not watch sports ever again because you got no history. Of course we’re talking
about “Sweetness” Walter Payton. First round draft pick out of Jackson State University.
Didn’t win the Heisman Trophy but he won a couple of other things. Let’s talk about
Russian titles he won a bunch of those. Let’s talk about Super Bowl like name a 5.
Oh let’s talk about he retired as the all time leading rusher Indiana fell of course that’s
when he surpassed Emmitt Smith but let’s just talk about Sweetness for a second. Now in
a day and age where athletes are overpaid and doing too many products and doing too
many drugs Walter Payton was a throwback. Walter Payton was the kind of guy who
played the game the right way. He was quiet, he was mercurial, he was passionate, he
was elegant and when he played the game you were scared for your life. You could run
right over.
He was only about 5’10” but he carried about 220 on those legs and those legs would
power through everybody for about 13 years. Sadly Walter died a few years ago but he
still merits consideration as one of the greatest athletes in history and definitely merits
inclusion on this list of athletes with Mojo.
