Hey everybody, it is Alan K. in Indy Mogul Extra. Remember the last time you wanted to take your camcorder outside and it was about to rain and if you have that feeling you might get it wet or maybe you have a shot you wanted to take in the rain and have it figured out a good way to keep your camera dry. I have got the perfect solution. It costs nothing, takes about five minutes to make and it is pretty effective in keeping your camera dry.
One caveat is this; if you are planning on water proof housing, forget it. This is not the thing you put your camera in and go diving at Great Barrier Reef with, but it will protect the camera in the rain. You get the materials at the recycle bin and as I said, costs nothing, and takes about five minutes to make. All you need to make this rain protective housing for your camera is a detergent bottle, the larger the better, with the handle always good, nice scissors, and what is good to have two is that quick release plate that comes with your tripod.
Remember that little do-icky that is grossing the bottom of your camera? All you do is cut off the top of the bottle; you can throw that away. Watch your piggies when you do that. On the bottom cut yourself a nice flap, but keep the flap—don’t cut it off completely. Keep the flap like that so it closes up.
On the bottom, cut a little notch and I will show you why in a second. Take the camera; stick it in the butt end of the bottle, like so. When you are done make, sure that the lenses taking up the front, you got planning your room, when you go wides, they do not catch the edge as to the bottle you can always cut a bigger hole.
Make sure quick release plate is locked and pop it on your tripod, and there you have it. Rain protection for your camera that is quick and easy to make. I am Alan Cay for Indy Mogul Extra. We will see you next time. Until then, happy shooting everybody.
