Male Speaker: Now you tried some critical recipes.
Catherine McCord: Yes so today we have got, this is eating your green’s puree and the good thing about this, it does have sweet potato and carrots which we know that usually adds.
Male Speaker: There is a little orange in there.
Catherine McCord: Yeah, but its got some peas and some brackley which is packed with vitamin C and even the peas, for one cup of peas have more protein than a tablespoon of peanut butter which is, it’s going to be.
Male Speaker: Yeah these are great source of protein.
Catherine McCord: And this is a really good mixed introduction for babies. Then this is another recipe that I love making, its called Cherimoya avocado Blues.
Male Speaker: Looks like guacamole.
Catherine McCord: I know. Do you want to try?
Male Speaker: Sure.
Catherine McCord: Okay. Let’s have the baby here try it.
Male Speaker: Oh that’s pretty good.
Catherine McCord: That’s very good.
Male Speaker: that’s really good. Cherimoya? What is cherimoya?
Catherine McCord: Okay now cherimoya is goanna watch and I’m feeding the adult first before the babe is.
Male Speaker: Now Avocado is a great, great baby food. Lots of good healthy fats in that.
Catherine McCord: Absolutely. Both of these like the avocados, you want them to be nicely soft, but avocados are packed with fats which are really good for babies.
Male Speaker: Good.
Catherine McCord: Good, good, good. it’s the fats that you want them to be eating. And Cherimoyas are like you want to pick ones that are soft, pack them in a bunch of pieces, remove the big black seeds and the peel and then you put this white into a food processor and it makes this creamy yummy sweet, very vitamin filled
Male Speaker: Lots of good fiber in there, and iron.
Catherine McCord: Yeah, and I send this is very own, very important. So that’s a good one. That’s like a really good sweet one and you want to buy fruits and vegetables that are in season because that’s another economical way to be cutting the cost , because when you buy food at markets, its very expensive George. So this is the way to spend less, but getting them the best nutrients possible.
Male Speaker: Now I got to say some, you got a baby on the way. What you are three weeks away from.
Catherine McCord: I am having a baby inside. This is the baby.
Male Speaker: So you are going to be ready with these great foods.
Catherine McCord: I have two years old at home and he is my taster. So we get in real tasters. Not just the adults.
Male Speaker: Little myto likes the orange foods but she likes that soft texture right?
Female Speaker: She likes the soft texture and
Male Speaker: A lot of babies may not actually be the color but it might be actually be that creamy texture that she really likes. So you might get away with trying different colors.
Catherine McCord: And this is a great example. It’s that we have a sweet potato yam here and this is a Yukon gold potato. And they both can have that creamy texture, may be that’s something that she is really excited about. But of course the oranges is great, but today I may Yukon gold -- cheese puree and she hasn’t had cheese yet, right?
Female Speaker: She has not had cheese.
Catherine McCord: So this is in the around eight, nine months.
Male Speaker: yeah nine months is good to start the cheese. No, not the milk, yet. No milk until age one. But cheese its time.
Catherine McCord: So what I did was, I steamed these potatoes for six minutes, and then I added the kale for total of 10 minutes. I sprinkled on a little cheddar cheese. You could kind of put it in your little mini food processor and give it a little. What do you think of that?
Male Speaker: Yeah.
Catherine McCord: And then right here is the finished product. What do you think? You are ready?
Male Speaker: Yummy airplane coming in.
Catherine McCord: What do you think?
Female Speaker: Well she is not spitting it out.
Catherine McCord: That’s a discerning face. I think that’s good times.
Male Speaker: Thank you, Catherine McCord.
Catherine McCord: Thank you.
