I am Steve Turano, welcome to this episode of body performance. This first part of the video is dedicated to Jennifer. She started her power walking program whether it is on the treadmill or outside, floating weights and she wanted to know if she had to start a weight training program too, to lose weight. My answer is you do not have to, if you just watch what you eat and you are walking, power walking, cardio, jogging you will lose weight. No doubt about it.
The only reason you might want to start a weight training program is:
1. It burns additional calories simply doing it. Maybe a 100, 150, 200 additional calories which will go towards your weight loss.
2. It will help firm up your body.
But you do not have to do a weight training program in order to lose body fat. Another question that somebody asked was, how effective is in the mini-tramp verses using a treadmill or jogging outside? Well, in mini-tramp is not very effective and here is why, when you think about cardio vascular activity and burning calories we have to think of a couple things:
1. Do we incorporate big muscles of the body which is part of your leg, your hips, and your rear end.
2. How intensity is it?
3. Can I do it for at least 20 or 30 minutes?
Well bouncing in a trampoline, does incorporate the muscles but most of the movement is cased by the trampoline itself not your legs. So while you can do it for a long period of time it is just not that intense. So when you think in terms of cardio vascular activity you want to think of terms of how intense it is and how long I can do it. Sprinting, incredible cardiovascular activity, it incorporates the entire body, tremendous intensity, the only problem is you can only do it for 10 seconds. So that might not be the best type of cardio for most people.
We want to back it down a little bit, walking, very good, but most people walk too slow. So while it incorporates the body and you can do it for long periods of time it is just not that intense. So when you ask is something ineffective form or aerobic or cardio vascular activity you have to think in terms of how much of the body is incorporate, how intensely can I do it and how long can I do it? Love your body.
