Pandan leaves also known as Screwpine leaves add a fragrant and exotic flavor to rice and curry dishes. They are popular in Southeast Asia particularly Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. You can find Pandan leaves in most Asian markets either fresh, frozen or dried. These ones here are frozen keeping them wrapped in plastic while preserve their flavor for months in the freezer. You will only add a few leaves to add a beautiful yet subtle flavor to your rice or curry. Fresh or frozen leaves are typically torn into strips or tied into a knot then placed into the cooking liquid and removed at the end of cooking. Pandan leaves will add a very distinctive aroma to whatever dish you put it in. Try some next time you make rice or curry and you will see how wonderful they are.
