Shalom, I am recording this in the end of July, which means we are getting closer to the high holidays and this video is about getting more out of the High Holiday experience. The specific aspect of it, I want to focus on are the ten days repentance the whole notion of atonement which is the word caper for capara for Yom Kippur. I am reading this wonderful book called how to think like Leonardo De Vinci, he suppose to be the smartest man who ever live in the book called has a sub title Seven steps to a Genius everyday. And I want to talk about the one of the seven steps because I think after reading it has a lot apply to us about the ideas of the high holidays. This particular one is the Italian word for demonstration, a commitment to test knowledge through experience, persistence and a willingness to learn from mistakes.
It is says in the book that of all recognizes the greatest genius of all time Leonardo made many colossal mistakes in staggering blunders. Then goes and say despite mistakes, disasters, failures and disappointment, he never stops learning, exploring and experimenting. And then he asks the fallowing self assessments so ask your selves these questions. I am willing to acknowledge my mistakes, my closest friend would agree that I am willing to acknowledge my mistakes. I learned from my mistakes and rarely make the same one twice. I can articulate my most fundamental beliefs and reasons I hold them.
I have change the deeply held belief because of practical experience, I persevere in the face obstacles. I view adversity as an opportunity for growth. I consider new ideas my friends and my associates and my associates would say that I am a gullible and new AGBA close mind Synch or C open minded Skeptic. The man ask us to think about it to following way about learning from our mistakes and adversity. So suggest the fallowing; take this task and write it down. Number one what did you learn at school about making mistakes? What did your parents teach about making mistakes? What is the biggest mistake you ever made? What did you learn from it? What mistakes did you repeat?
What role does the fear making mistakes play in your daily life, at work, and at home? Leonardo made many mistakes and experienced tremendous adversity in his quest for truth and beauty. The book says in addition to false accusation, invasion, exile and the want him to structure of his most greatest works. The maestro most significant adversity was probably the shared loneliness of being so far ahead of his time. Although we had experience self-doubt and question the value of his efforts he never gave up. So if he had worst than that false accusation, invasion, exile, destruction of your most greatest works.
Welcome study show that critical determine of success in business and life is resilient in the face of adversity. Awareness, deep contemplation and a sense of humor are your best friends attempting to learn from difficult experiences. And so, we have exercises here and the fallowing areas relationships. For example I am willing to allow another person to my heard yes, spirituality, my connection to divine is my top priority, do I feel the presence of my divine with in me. Money I feel the difference between my desires and my need, I am willing to feel for abundance to enter my life, I acknowledge the abundance exist in my life and so on and so fort to learning the brain on my mind manifest in ways that surprise me. I acknowledge my ability to learn intuitively. Then for career here a few examples, feel worthy for my contribution to the world, I feel connected to my inner strengths when other view my work. In other words what this is teaching us in this one of the seven ways to think like me is constantly learn from our mistakes, to constantly re asses. To always face the adversity preserver and continue, to see those opportunities is opportunity to learn, to not repeat mistakes, to be open minded, to feel abundant, to feel gods presence, to make god the center of your life. Those were things that help make Leonardo a genius and I think that is a brilliant way to look at this important period in Jewish year, the period leading up to the how a day of Yom Kippur. Because, next month our allow are begin our penitential prayers. Reassessing ourselves in light of our experience to try to become a better people to explain to god in a metaphorical way why we deserve another year. so think then, in fact get the book because they are seven other great ways to think like Leonardo De Vinci not that we will all be as smart as he was but certainly in this one way to help us prepare for the high Holiday experience.
