Emily Hebert: Hi, I’m Emily Hebert, Elle.com Associate Beauty Editor. And today we’re going to scout the streets of New York and find out what do women prefer; matte eye shadow or shimmer eye shadow.
When it comes to plain up your eyes, do you prefer shimmery eye shadow or a matte’s eye shadow?
Female 1: Matte, and also a crayon for -- coal crayon.
Female 2: I prefer like a little bit of shimmer but not a very bold color, so I go more for the lighter eye shadows because it makes my eyes bigger.

Female 3: I’m in the entertainment industry, I’m a dancer so when I perform, I like to use like a shimmer one.
Female 4: It depends, if I’m going out, I like a little more shimmer but typically matte though.
Female 5: I would say matte eye shadow that way you can add a bunch of different colors and the shimmer doesn’t go all down your face.
I use Urban Decay. So yeah, different colors and it will last all day so that’s important when you’re out.
Female 6: It depends if you’re going out or not but I prefer Matte during the day and a little bit of shimmer at night.
I like Estee Lauder, I like Chanel. I like Clinique, those are my top brands.
