In this video we're going to examine Electric cars, Hybrid cars and Hydrogen cars. Electric power cars can be powered by batteries or by the sun. A solar car is an electric vehicle powered by solar energy obtained from solar panels on the surface of the car. Such cars can operate for limited distances without the sun and the solar cells are generally very fragile. Most solar cars only have enough room for one or two people. Solar cars competed races such as World Solar Challenge and America Solar Challenge. These events were often sponsored by Government Agencies, such as the United States Department of Energy. GM and Honda are two car makers that have also competed along with numerous Universities.
A Battery Electric Vehicle or BEV is an electric vehicle that utilizes chemical energy, stored in rechargeable battery packs. Electric vehicles can use an electric motor instead of an Internal Combustion Engine, some use both. BEVS include cars, trucks, scooters, golf carts and forklifts, essentially any vehicle which does not conduct long range transportation. Hybrid cars are called as such because they combine the power of a gasoline engine with the paddle power of the two-rider.
The hybrid is a balance that increases the mileage of the electric car, can reduce emissions of a gas powered car. In addition to cars, it should be noted locomotors and submarines or hybrids as well. Most Hybrid cars on the road right now are gasoline electric hybrids; although there are car manufacturers that are working on diesel electric hybrid cars.
A hydrogen vehicle is a vehicle such as an automobile or an aircraft that uses hydrogen as its primary source of power for locomotion. Over the past few years we've seen many celebrities joined the cars to support governments and car makers as drive towards so called Green Cars.
