Ricky Daniel: My name is Ricky Daniel, and I'm 29 years old and I would like to know what kind of medicine that I should take to elevate a fever? Lisa Bernstein: Ricky the most important thing to remember is that fever it is not an illness, its symptom of one. So for a temperature of below 102 degrees for an adult you really probably don't have to take anything. Now if you want to do something and you don't want to take medication you could actually wear light clothing get into a Luke warm showers, since slowly lower the temperature not a very cold one, because shivering can actually increase your temperature, but if you do want to take something you can actually taken over the counter medication such as anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen or Tylenol, both of which will lower your fever.
