Rhiannon: Relationships take a lot of work, from first dates to moving in with your guy, it’s
really hard to know what to do. Our relationship pros have all the answers in
today’s Ask Matt and Tamsen.
Tamsen: Hi everybody, Matt and Tamsen here, your love consultants, ready to answer your
questions about dating, sex, love and relationships. So we’ll get started, right?
Matt: Ready to go, what have you got?
Tamsen: Alright. “Dear Matt and Tamsen, I’m an average guy who does not care too much
about fashion. I took your advice and asked out a beautiful woman who turns out
to be a buyer on an upscale man’s clothing store. She’s totally into fashion, we
have our first date next week, I can’t believe I’m going to ask this but what should
I wear?”
Usually it’s the women asking this question.
Matt: Don’t hate on this guy. I’m so proud of him, first of all she asked out a beautiful
woman absolutely amazing. Secondly, you got to care about your appearance. I
mean, I am a fashion icon, I’m a fashion plate. So you know what I think, I think
he needs to go with something he’s very comfortable with, I love polo shirts that
make your body look good. I mean, I am built, but for other guys who don’t look
like me, it can lay really well. Jeans that you’re comfortable in, and if you’re
vertically challenge, like myself, 5-8, a boot is good because of the heel. So that’s
what I’m thinking.
Tamsen: I like that. I think it’s nice somebody is asking what they should wear, do guys do
really worry about this?
Matt: Yeah, we really do, because we want to make a good impression because we want
to make out at the end of the date. we got to look good we got to do what we need
to do.
Tamsen: Alright, we’re going to move on from there.
Matt: Alright, but seriously, be confident, look good and go get her.
Tamsen: I love it. Alright, “Dear Matt and Tamsen, my boyfriend of three years just told
me he was transferred to the West Coast,” this is not going well, alright, “he
hasn’t asked me to come with him yet, we’ve been talking mostly about the
details of his new job. I love him and I want to go with him but I don’t want to be
the one who brings it up. Help.”
Alright, I’m just going to start here, first of the bat, you should not be the one that
brings this up and you know how I feel about this, unless she has a ring in her
finger, she shouldn’t be moving across the country.
Matt: Do you see what I’ve dealt with all these years? Honestly, Tamsen is dead on,
she’s right, as usual. I think the guy really needs the one, as Tamsen said. the
woman should be helping him plan, she has to play it out this way, support him,
be there for him and then let him be the one to make decision because you do not
want to inject yourself into someone’s life, you always want to be invited.
Tamsen: What else, this isn’t going to be an easy situation because you have to wait
around, understandably you’re going to have wait for him to bring it up but if you
plays it any other way. Then she’s the one asking to go and something doesn’t
work out, it’s going to be blame game and she might be up in the West Coast by
herself, it concerns me.
Matt: And remember, there are two roles in each relationship, one that is loved and one
who loves. Be the one who is loved, trust me, it’s the way to go.
Tamsen: Yeah I know, I do think it’s the right position now, because if she’s asking to
move with him. The next she’s going to be doing is asking, “When are we getting
married, engage, having children.”
Matt: That’s right. Those are the precedents of that one.
Tamsen: I agree, alright, that’s it for right now. If you have any questions be sure to send
