So, someone comes up to you and they are like hey, you know about Zimbabwe? This is what you should say.
Of course I know about Zimbabwe, are you serious? You are talking about the country with the lowest life expectancy in the world. 37 for men and 34 for women but the crazier part is just 18 years ago in 1990 the life expectancy for men was 60. So maybe ask yourself, what the heck is happening in 18 years?
Two words! Robert Mugabe. Who is been the President of Zimbabwe since their independence from Britain in 1980. Mr. Mugabe is brought an era of economic, political and social decline to Zimbabwe, and Zimbabwe currently faces unemployment of 70% and hyper inflation of hundred thousand plus percent. Disappoint that perspective? United States faces average yearly inflation of about four percent.
So, maybe saying to your self so, Mugabe’s terrible vote him out of office elected new President. I feel you, and in March, Zimbabwe held Presidential elections. And, opposition political party won them. A man name Morgan Tsvangirai got more votes than Robert Mugabe.
However, he did not secure the majority of the votes and therefore the election would push to run off, which took place last week. But you see Mr. Mugabe is not a guy just step down lightly and walk away.
Now, over the past couple of months has rained a campaign of terror against the citizen of Zimbabwe, threatening them saying, hey, they do not vote for me, I am going to reap your eyes out, cut your arm off and leave in a ditch for dead. And, this rained of terror worked.
Morgan Tsvangirai last week withdrew from the Presidential run off, stating that he will not partake and his illegitimate violence sham of an election process. So, Mr. Mugabe win to the election as the soul candidate, results came back this weekend and surprise! Mugabe will serve at six terms as the president of Zimbabwe.
Now, the whole rest of the world is saying, what now. That is what I know about Zimbabwe.
