Rapping Voice: What Should You Know? You are watching What Should You Know because let us be honest What Should You Know.
So someone comes to you and they are like hey, you know about Open Skies? This is the way you should say.
Of course I know about Open Skies. Are you serious?
Is the agreement between the United States and the European Union that hopes to efficient ties and standardize International Air Travel because let us be honest, International Air Travel [sigh] not so efficient, not so stress free but I you do not fly a lot Internationally and I do not but I have. Let me just give you quick example.
Let say you are flying from Chicago to Prague via Paris, could have delay of repairs, you get in security check in Chicago when you leave. You get the Paris and you like hey, you get a security check again! Welcome to Paris before you began you began Prague, two security checks, one traveling itinerary -- it is not sufficient.
Second example, let us say flying from Frankfurt to Cleveland. Why are you be going to Cleveland? I am not sure. Well just inspect on Cleveland, party and gambles there. I am from Baltimore not a big fan.
But anyway, Frankfurt to Cleveland, You get a security check at Frankfurt. You going to get to New York because that is where your lay over is. Hey, security check again, then you get to Cleveland.
Two security checks, one itinerary, does not make a whole lot of sense!
The problem is their not very trusting the US does not trust the European security. Europeans could not trust US security.
So the first thing about Open Skies is they are trying to standardize security measures. They can be like hey, this is the standard, we all do it. Let us just make easier for a travelers, give them one security check versus all to one. It is stressful, enough to fly! [Sigh]
The second big thing about Open Skies is that that right now, it does not make a lot of sense but let me explain this to you. Right now, only before this agreement I should say, only certain US carriers could fly the certain European airport. And only to certain European aircraft carriers could fly a certain US airport.
This is the way it was but not this agreement. Any US airline can fly that any European airport hopefully, and any European airline could fly at any US airport.
This is going to help bringing some competition. Hopefully lower the prices of air fair, I think it is great. They will see it, maybe we can fly internationally. No Presidential Lexus coming up, you like the outcome either you leave the country maybe. [Sigh]
So anyway, Open Skies is another step forward to a big piece of deregulation which they are hoping, a lot of people in United States. Any in Europe, it will happen which is this. Right now that American Airlines, US Aircraft carrier has to be majority owned by American citizen. And the European aircraft carrier has to be majority owned by Europeans.
Now this is the regulations of laws that take they back to world War II but today it does not make a lot of sense. They want to help lift that and say hey, you can own it whatever you lift. So you could help bringing and build bigger, strong airlines that fly although out US and although out Europe but are singlely owned by Europeans, Americans of whatever. You know, this could help bring crisis down if you have stronger airlines that fly more, you know more efficiency.
People also where arguing if you end up having this bees of airlines, and it will be less competition and prices will go off in fact. But you know what? I have no idea.
Let us leave that to the free markets, they never let us down before?!
That is what I know about Open Skies.
