Almost every state has two kinds of traffic things that you can be released on summons for, one is traffic infraction and the other is a traffic misdemeanor. The difference between these two, if you’re charged with a traffic misdemeanor, you should probably look into getting an attorney. If you’re charged with a traffic infraction, these are things that you can handle on your own, you probably isn’t worth hiring an attorney for a traffic infraction so what you’ll need to do, the first thing that you’ll need to do is go to the law library and look it up online, you can find almost anything law related online these days, plug in the code section of the thing you are charged with as it applies in the where you are and look at the specific element s of the crime or infraction that you’re charged with. If you know these things before you go into court then you’ll know what the state or Commonwealth will have to prove in order to find you guilty of that charge.
