Host: What are the critical factors in the admission selection process for colleges? Jerome Cole: I think the most important factor is your academic performance. What courses have you taken, have you challenged yourself in those courses and how long you perform, that is got to be your first factor along with test scores. The second factors are your recommendations which come from both your teachers and your counselor and then your essays. I think that the essay is the one component of the college application that allows a student to bring their fail to life if you will, it speaks directly to you, who you are and what you are. So, I would say that those are probably the most critical factors that colleges take under consideration while considering students.
