Okay, I am recording this video right now. It is going to be all about understanding what 4/4 mean in a piece of music. A lot of times it is probably where the circle is where the light is. It is just so that I saw right now but okay. Let us make the treble clef right here, okay. Put five lines and have it happen to be in 4/4. So, when you see that let us put one flat here. This is the key of F maybe if I show the line let us see how that was, a little better, okay.
Now, there is your treble clef, okay. There is one flat I am in the key of F because F has one flat and it is Bb, okay. So that is why I put a Bb right there. I am in 4/4 right here. So, what is this 4/4 means. Well, the top notes it tells you which note gets beat and the bottom note here which note gets to the beat. You see this all the chat and the inhaling of the markers it making me go crazy. Okay here, so here we have it top note means beats per measure and the bottom note is telling you which note gets the beat. Well, you are probably saying to yourself well that awesome but what the heck that those mean and this is the answer, okay.
You know that of your notes you have eight notes, quarter notes, half notes and whole notes. Whole notes let me move this down we now get four beats per measure. Half note we now get two beats per measure. Four notes get one beat per measure and eight notes get half a beat per measure. Let us now worry about eight notes right now but when you see this top part it says four beat per measure the way that you know of what you are going to fit in the measure well, if draw line here. Let me erase this, okay. Actually I am going to put it here. If I were to move this over right here and move it down let us put a treble clef, okay and five line and let us put a line right here and then let us continue over here. All right, now let us put this in 4/4.
The way that you know what a measure is in a piece of music is that a measure is the difference or the distance or whatever between two bar lines. Well, at the beginning a new piece of music is a bar line. So, here is a bar line, okay and then right here is also another bar line. So this distance right here is you measure, okay and there is my rock note and then everyone always been smart of, okay. So, here is your measures. If this top part is in 4/4 which most music is was most popular in music is in 4/4 top notes says beats per measure. So what is that mean? Well, it means with every measure I can put four beats so you have a choice and you can mix it up anyway you want but a half notes get two beats. So, I am going to have two half notes right here if I want to and in no way can I ever, ever put two half notes and a quarter notes here. It will measure 4/4.
Just look at same two beats plus two beat plus one beat, okay. Something wrong here so if I want to put half and half and quarter note in one measure I either got to take this quarter notes and erase so it is in 4/4 or I can keep this quarter here but I got to change this guys to 5/4 because I got to tell the performer/musician that it there is five piece in that measure not four, okay. Now, let us continue this, now that you guys understand what the top part means let us erase this and instead of putting in 5/4 we can also put if we are in 4/4 right here we can put four quarter notes. A corner only gets one beat. So let us put four corners in that measure or let us put 8/8 notes. Eight halves is the same as saying four holes, okay but hole that means one beat, I mean whole this or we are just going to erase all this junk over here and put it one whole note. And once erase that and put a whole note right here. There we have it four beats, okay.
Now, you guys understand that and let us look at the bottom note now, okay. The bottom note is saying which note gets the beat. That gets a little bit crazy, okay but I am going to do my best to explain to you guys. Let us go back down here and this was telling you how many beats per measure for each note but whether you know which note get the beat is let me erase and all the numbers changes no
