Jonathan D’Agostino: So, how did you come up with this concept of DRMDK?
Dr. Melvin Koplow: It was by accident. About two years one of my very poor patients asked them and kind of have a website and they said that you all have dial up in it. Where does it makes sense. No, I have high speed. I said, What? Yeah, it is cheap as an AOL. They have this great deals.
Jonathan D’Agostino: How many years doe this goes with this?
Dr. Melvin Koplow: About two years ago.
Jonathan D’Agostino: Just two years ago.
Dr. Melvin Koplow: And so I said no. We do not go back. I used to do stuff like this and I spoke to few of my colleagues and we came up on an idea. Why cannot we do video capturing the doctor and his whole office exactly what he would say. If you have given a diagnosis of autism or a heart problem whatever it is. We started the field. So, that my hospital in the mornings. Some that Schneide Children’s Hospital, a group.
Jonathan D’Agostino: But the purpose was not to replace the need to go a doctor.
Dr. Melvin Koplow: No, we fought a lot of misinformation when you go to a website and it is tight. You never know who wrote. It could be a ghost rider which is a common practice today. You put your name on it. You get paid for it. maybe they did not do the work. It is common and sometimes articles that are printed and even journals today. So, we thought if you see the doctor, it is sounded like you are there and you can see his expression. You know he is a real doctor and a unique thing around New York, we have 34 or 35 hospitals all competing the same time. Instead of working with each other they compete, but the doctors really do not compete because like there’s plenty of kids who have heart problems. There is more than enough busy. My institution has three or four pediatric cardiologists. They are all very busy. So, why cannot we the one who can save the best about a particular problem and capture it so he goes to the doctor with the problem. You better repeat it as the right questions and then we seek out the right answers.
Dr. Michael LaCorte: Let me just state on it. Mel has been a couple has a little bit on the shy side. I know him probably 30 some like years and he was at the fore front.
Dr. Melvin Koplow: That is what you had IFM.
Dr. Michael LaCorte : Well, that is what when you are Yankee fan.
Dr. Melvin Koplow: You are delusion.
Dr. Michael LaCorte: And basically when we go back knowing sure than to the 70s. We use always act the forefront of what was going on with the technology where he gave his patient’s information. This was a dream of his of really first of all uniting physicians in the area. I guess you could call it a Children’s Hospital without walls. A dream of the technology allowing us present to pediatricians and families. The latest in information because this videos can be updated at anytime. We just did a very interesting segment on ADHD. This has just came out of North American Heart Association. Every child gone on this medications. You should get a electrocardiogram. It just got published. Mel came to me and said let us do something on this. So, we updated some of the information we had. So, it easy update. Patients love it because when they walked into your office they already seeing you. Our pediatricians love it because they can access information. For example, nurses, people learning to be physicians, and PA students they can go on and say I want to know about Cardiology or I want to learn about Rheumatology. They can go on and see experts in the field and with short segments gets the most important information about a particular topic.
