Male1: Sometimes baby boys are born and they do not pee from the tip, sometimes it comes from the side and the doctor said it is called hypospadias. What is hypospadias?
Male2: Hypospadias is an abnormality of the urethra that usually it has been seen mainly by a urologist because it is probably a surgical problem that I do not deal with that.
Male1: But you do see it now and then?
Male2: I do.
Male1: But the reason you see it, because sometimes, they do a sonogram while they sometimes, through a urine and because there is a little defect here, there could be other defects higher up, is that correct?
Male2: That is correct.
Male1: So we see that, we usually get sonograms and do a study and then many times you are involved, is that correct? If you are not sure, if you circumcise a kid who has that because you might need a tissue to do a fix to whatever is wrong, is that correct?
Male2: That is correct. You should not circumcise a baby who has hypospadias.
Male1: Are there any drugs during a pregnancy you know that can make it more apt to happen for a kid can get hypospadias?
Male2: There maybe, but I am not aware.
Male1: Well actually, some have been contemplating, but that is a good reason during pregnancy, you probably should not take medications as to absolutely, no other choice maybe to providing a few things like folic acid.
