Raena Morgan: Can a naturopathic physician treat children?
Dr. Molly Ferguson: Absolutely. There are naturopaths who specialize in pediatric care, actually.
Raena Morgan: They do?
Dr. Molly Ferguson: Yes. So, it’s very common for naturopaths to see children, usually for treatment of things such as allergies, asthma—things people are looking for some alternatives for, so they don’t have to use as much drugs in their children.
Raena Morgan: So they don’t have to overmedicate their children?
Dr. Molly Ferguson: Exactly.
Raena Morgan: Do you see a lot of children in your practice?
Dr. Molly Ferguson: I see a fair amount of children, yes. I was also trained as a midwife, so I saw many, many babies, infants, new babies that I was able to take care of and that was really fun. In my naturopathic practice, I see a number of children as well, of all ages.
Raena Morgan: Of all ages. And they commonly have things like allergies and sensitivies.
Dr. Molly Ferguson: Yeah. I would say things that are, you know, most typical problems with children these days are probably going to be some of the most typical things that I’ll see. So, certainly trouble with allergies, asthma, eczema, behavioral issues—whether it is ADHD or even autism. Sometimes autistic spectrum disorder, we see that, too.
Raena Morgan: Well, thank you very much.
Dr. Molly Ferguson: Yeah.
