Raena Morgan: Okay and so does EpiCor also act as an antioxidant?
Dr. Larry Robinson: EpiCor does. In fact, EpiCor has one of the highest antioxidant values of
any food or nutritional supplement. This is very important, too. There’s
actually one theory that aging is caused by free radicals, and that sounds
like a terrible thing, and, in fact, it is. You have these chemicals in the
body that can actually oxidize. And if you’re wondering what oxidation is,
the easiest way is to look at rust. That’s a result of oxidation. And the
interesting thing is that oxidation doesn’t always even have to have
oxygen, although in many cases it does. But in the body, you have things
called reactive oxygen species—or ROS—you can see that in the
literature—they can damage cell membranes and all other parts of the
body. They can suppress the immune system. They can cause aging. So a
product that has a good antioxidant capacity is very important. EpiCor has
a large range of compounds in it that act as antioxidants. That’s also
important because single antioxidants aren’t necessarily that great.
Vitamin C is good, vitamin E is good, but they’re single antioxidants.
What your body really needs is a variety of antioxidants because you need
it for different purposes. You need some water soluble antioxidants; you
need some fat soluble antioxidants; and you need antioxidants that
regenerate other antioxidants. So you don’t need just one antioxidant. You
can’t just take you vitamin C and say that fulfills the requirement for
example.
Raena Morgan: Well, that’s very good information. Thank you very much, Dr. Robinson.
Dr. Larry Robinson: You’re welcome.
