Hi this is Mike here from mostcomputertips.com in this video I'm answering the question what is Spyware. Spyware can also be called hardware or a data miner, generally it’s something that will install it self silently during the installation of another software, this software is usually free software and why it’s free it’s is because comes to a Spyware which has things like advertisement. Or is reader acting new to another page of some sort.
This free software generally installing Spyware is not something illegal either, if you actually read it the in use of license agreement which comes with this free software is usually very long and full of legal language which no one bothers to read. But inside that it actually says that you by installing your friends free software you're allowing to install its other Spyware components as well.
But, the problem with that is, a lot of that Spyware is they're not written very well or they will utilize system resources. So that they will actually slow down your PC overall performance and even your internet connection. And then they’ll also will track a monitor your online activities of causing order to get to know you better what you're searching that sort of thing, so that they can target their advertising specially to you. The other problem with that is of course they’ll be tracking—they’ll be having like key logger type Spyware which will can track the numbers you put into your machine which could be credit numbers.
So, as you can see I’ve ran a scan with this Anti- Spyware software here and most of what it’s found is cookie trackers. But the top one for example says switch dialer and you may find programs like that on your machine I have no idea where it came from and you probably have the same situation but this sort of program can be like a dialer. That will use your internet connection to dial long distance phone numbers which coming up quite expensive if you’ve got a dialup account then that’s what usually what they’ll use or advance ones may use on your idea self connection, that sort of thing.
So it’s generally best to get a third party in the Spyware software and run a scan on you machine, you’ll be pretty surprise that the number of items that it actually picks up.
