What is Tibial Tubercle

David: I'm David from Dayton, Ohio. I'm 20 years old and as a child I was told that I had I used to get Schlatter's disease, what exactly is that? Brian Halpern: David, I got great news for you. You had the same problem that almost every other person has as a young athlete, you develop this extra bone just below your knee cap which is called the tibial tubercle and the reason it develops is because you guess what, you are not the small any more you grew and when you grow the bone grows faster than the tendons and the patellar tendon which attaches to that bone in the upper part of your shin was pulling on that for a while and it elevates since you get some pain and some discomfort. It stays elevated, you stay with the bump but usually you have no issues with it in adult life.
