Male: So we have Carla over here on Marilyn Monroe look. And so we’ve got a question for you. What is a lifestyle photo shoot? How is the whole—?
Carla: Well, it’s basically just trying to capture different everyday scenarios that we’ll all go through. You’re mad, you’re happy, you’re sad, you mean up your boyfriend. I’m going to get that shot. That’s about it, just capturing different scenarios.
Male: Oh-oh you’re in trouble buddy.
Carla: That’s about it.
[Demonstration]
Carla: We have Robel and Casen in here; trying to get it hot and steamy for the camera. So my question is, you guys don’t know each other, right?
Casen: No.
Carla: So how hard is it to get that chemistry to make it look real like it’s very getting hot and steamy. How hard is that?
Casen: It’s easy when you’re like he’s cool, I’m cool, we just vibe in it.
Robel: They do say that photography is like acting but in situations like this it’s not much acting.
Carla: It’s not that hard, right? I’m going to do an up and down of both of them. They’re both hot.
Robel: It’s nice and easy, you what I mean—I mean just a little moment you have—you know what I mean as you can see on these shots and this is my first time to do lifestyle photography, I’m enjoying myself and everybody is enjoying it. We just have so much fun.
Carla: And you get paid so be next to a hot lady come on now!
John Ricard: This is Casen and I met Casen about 2 years ago I think. You came to a casting at the studio. And we try to shoot you in a whole bunch of times it didn’t happen.
Casen: It didn’t happen.
John Ricard: I’m not sure why but it happened today?
Casen: Yes.
John Ricard: So you have your book there. Can you just show us your book for a second? Tell us a little bit about what’s in the book.
Casen: What’s in the book—I’m very versatile as a model. I do a lot of stuff. This is one of my RC stuff that I do. I do a lot of just different vibes, different looks, trying to make sure that you can get it. This is the most recent actually. And then some swimsuit, some natural stuffs, more expressive, product stuff for bags. Just to give examples and everything else, beauty.
John Ricard: Right so you have a whole mix of things like you said, there is a view shot and then you have a tear sheet there in there too. It’s really nice! We love this tear sheet.
Casen: My smooth spread.
John Ricard: This was a beautiful piece.
Casen: It came out in February basically six pages plus interview.
John Ricard: How long did it take for them to shoot that?
Casen: It was probably no more than an hour and a half so it was quick.
John Ricard: Wow! Well, they did a nice job in such a short period of time. And right here is Robel on the left and Casen on the right. So overall, how did the shoot go for you guys?
Casen: The shoot was really, really good. We had fun. It was a comfortable environment, everybody enjoyed themselves. Everybody is just looking and chilling back, relax and stuff so. It was really, really good.
John Ricard: Let me get you guys look at the pictures. Just hit that little arrow key there and you can kind of flip through and take a look. And that was Carla. She is not here with us today.
Now I said I love this part and I hate this part. The reason I hate it is because people tend to go to the pictures so slowly. Then they look at the pictures like models or some of my clients, when I look at the pictures, I tend to go through them very quickly. For example, can I stop you one second Casen. If I’m editing this shoot, I’m might do quickly like this and pick out and my good and my bad very quickly like that. But everybody else tends to go in as much slower pace than I like. So it drives me crazy but at the same time I love seeing the smiles from people as they look through pictures.
What is the role of an agent or what do you like or not like about an agent?
Robel: Agents, agents that is a special word. They pretty much book jobs for you, always calling in 24/7. We’ve got something for you and this going that route for you great or I mean it’s just an experience. Like today I just got to New York to do this footage with you. And I just got a call from my agent, “Robel you’re just booked at Alicia Keys video. You need to show off at 3:00 and then you’ve got to go do the Bon Jovi music video,” and I’m like, come on man. So this is a beautiful thing.
Jon Ricard: Can you tell me one thing I should look out, not me but in models should look out for that shows a sign of bad agent. Give me one example something bad agent.
Robel: A bad agent will call you about a job half an hour before you’re supposed to be there. But sometimes they get that in the last minute also and I guess a bad agent don’t get you no jobs either.
John Ricard: Casen, tell us something about an agent.
Casen: They can look for you all the time. Sometimes they let you know things ahead of time. But they are basically there to help you manage your time and make sure that your money is straight. Basically for me, I worked with Artistic Curves so basically they’re the ones that help me out there too, but I also know—I know a lot of people so that helps in the plate too.
