Friendly greetings, this is Torley Linden President and manager of Linden Lab. And I am here yes, I’m pointing at you to show what is new and exciting in this release. Although I do not have a chart at the moment you may already know that there is substantially improved of your stability. An approximate 20% decrease in total crash rate.
So, while that is not something that could easily shown, it is really good to know that. But here onto some things that I can definitely show you the visual fast and fun way. Join me!
New in Second Life 1.20 is the option to change the look of your viewer. Notice how it looks sort of silver blue. This can be done through edit menu and preferences and in the skins tab you can go from the default classic look to this nice new silver blue one.
Also to reduce clutter the tools menu which is used for building and into the objects does not show up unless you are actively doing so. For example, I right click the ground and crate and now the tools menu appears.
Additionally at any time, you can select a tool via a shortcut. So for example if I were to close this and press control three, the tools menu will show up just like that.
We are continuing to make it easier for you to find people, places and things in Second Life via search. New in Second Life 1.20 is the showcase tab right here. You can check from various cool locations and then you can draw down into specific categories. Like if you were looking for some music venues like clubs and concerts to visit then you can select one and any time you click one on the left it will show you a picture of what you can expect to find there, and you could directly teleport if you s o wanted like so. And here we are, we are teleporting and we have arrived at this music location from the showcase.
Also from search, you can expect that in your new groups tab you can search for groups and you can view your groups or create new ones. One thing of course the advantage of the old group tab is you can sort by group size. I do know about that, but in the meantime, you can search like people who are interested in dogs. And that will come up.
As we continue to expand second life worldwide and make it accessible in your native language now in edit menu and preferences right through in the general tab next to language system default will work for windows and Linux Systems. If you have not previously chosen English, for example it will match as best as it can the language of your operating system and of course, we continue to work on these translations.
So here is another welcome use ability edition to Second Life 1.20. If you open in the IM/instant message or group chat, you will notice that every other resident’s name is clickable linkiness. So you can go ahead and click and bring up their profile. This makes it much easier for example to transfer something to them from your inventory if you need to do that. Also if you want to change the color that their link appears in, it is the same as the stuttered earl color. So you head to the edit menu and preferences and right here in the text chat tab change the earl’s color to something else like yellow and then you will need to restart for the change you take effect.
You may know that in previous versions of Second Life there was default avatar loading form also somewhat fondly known as Ruth. Well new is, we have change the ugly naked Ruth into this more pleasant plasma willow the wisp sort of cloud. So this means that an avatar in your vicinity is being downloaded as things around you begin to rest and you see shapes take form.
Now it is time for some nice little usability enhancement, small changes and they could make difference such as when you are sitting notice that the fly button gets great out. It gets disabled preventing confusion. Also take note that if you are already sitting, one click sits will not work that is the sit action. But if you stand up, notice now the cursor again is responsive and of course if you ever want to make your objects use that one click sit action it is a simple matter, right click at it
