When three Rings, Supermodel and $60M is not enough
Shalom! This is the story about Mitzvah, about teddy bears. My sister, lives in Bergenfield in New Jersey name is Clear Goldstein, she is married O’Leary and they have four children and they were watching a news item about the terrorists victims in Israel and all the poor children there were killed or maimed, hurt and lying in hospitals from the terrorists bombs and they were saying oh it is a shame what can we do? And one of them got up and said, what about you tell in teddy bears. And from that suggestion, my sister and kids have now sent with the help of a lot of people 60,000 teddy bears. People drop them off from all over the world. She wakes up in the morning and her front porch is full of teddy bears and when anybody is going to Israel, she tries to grab to take a duffle bag. And a new project analysis sent 20,000 toys to the Negev, there is a lot of poor Jewish and Israelis living at the Negev and the kids do not have a lot of toys and so, now she shipping duffle bags and duffle bags of toys to Israel.
We all volunteered. Everybody is helping. They have got people in Israel. In fact, I just saw an e-mail today, that the health ministry of Israel has awarded her and her friends in Israel from the top 12, a volunteer award of the year for this amazing project just to bring comfort to people. Started with a innocent, you know, comment from one of the kids in regard to a horrific circumstances in Israel and now thousands and thousands of kids, first it was the terrorist victims and it was children who are ill in the hospitals and now is needy children, just a wonderful way that we can make a difference to help others reach out.
And tell that story in the context of an interesting TV show, 16 minutes last Sunday with Tom Brady, who is one of the most popular fellows in America, the quarter back for the New England patriots win all 15 and all. They win this week they will be undefeated. He has won three supper ball rings with them. He is 30 years old at the prime of his career. He is in the $60M contract. He is dating a supper model. He is more popular and blessed in evidently than on all the other great fantastic, heroic, popular sport heroes in Boston history, Larry Burton, Carlos Ramsey, etc.
And I remember from that show as him continually saying that it must be more, it is got to be something else. And so what do you say to a guys got what you think would be everything. The bible has a story about this a long time ago, it cleaves the astir, a middle age man who had it all, and he wondered, so nothing is more under the sun. Vanity, vanity all is vanity. I will tell you a story about three guys named laying bricks to build a synagogue, and somebody comes by and asked them what they are doing and one says I am laying bricks. The second one says well, I am earning a living. The third one says, I am building a house of God. And so for Tom and all of us, we ask about the meaning of life and think. Well, even if you are earning $650M and even if you are the most eligible bachelor in American. Even if you are the most popular sports hero. Kind of all kids dream about is their fantasy, it is not enough. And for the average person, those is not enough because the book of ecclesiastic Cahill it ends with this thought, by in the end, the sum of the matter is the key is to being aloft God to do the commandments. To devote our lives to helping others and to being holy. To repenting from our transgressions and to move forward and committing with God. And to use our full gifts as best we can to serve God. And so, that really is the thing that provides meaning and satisfaction to life not taking, not receiving, but giving. To really understand the full implication of love thy neighbor as thyself. to reach out to others.
It is been proven that with all kinds of scientific studies, that it helps in physical health and in mental health and emotional health, it is really the key. To give of a one self to brighten the world to bring peace and love with harmony wherever we can and above all, to be in all of God, and to observes the commandments. That I think is what we all find. It is not the end of the journey and we also had for time, more supper balls, and more money and then he is 45 and he is finished with that then what? Life has got to have the substance and meaning of helping build the world around us of living the holiest life we can and committing with God.
