Veronica Delfino: Amabile scarves are the result of what happens when the art world and the fashion world collide.
Hi! I am Veronica of watchmojo.com, and today we are taking a look at a line of scarfs that can be featured both in an art gallery and on the runway.
Can you tell us about this collaboration between the fashion world and the art world?
Frank Caracciolo: For me, I met Amabile at one of my art exhibitions and she came in and was looking at the art and we just started talking about whether or not we could take what was on the wall and put it into her fashion sense. And the she just started designing and playing, and we came up with this line of silk scarves.
Amabile Cantisani: I love his work and I am a fan. I have a few of his paintings in my home. I always thought about creating clothing with it. And I never thought that he would actually agree.
Veronica Delfino: Can you take us through the thought process of taking the painting to the scarves?
Amabile Cantisani: It's instant. I can see it right away, when I see a painting, I know exactly what I want to make with it and I see the garment finished.
Frank Caracciolo: What's really nice about our collaboration is that I do my art work and then I would call her over and she'd come over and we'll look at everything together. And she'll edit through and pick and select and certain things maybe certain colors or certain gestures and she'll take that and then go forward with that, with her own process.
Veronica Delfino: So how does it feel to see your art work on women?
Frank Caracciolo: It's really a nice compliment when somebody is walking around and they have your actual art. And it's a piece of high fashion, it's not something that's taken lightly. I think Amabile really, really goes out of her way to make something really special.
Veronica Delfino: So do you think, you can show us how to wear the scarves?
Amabile Cantisani: I'd love to show you. There are so many different ways, you can wear scarves. We are going to demonstrate a few unconventional ways. I like to join the two points, and then began by rolling in; depending on how you roll it you will see different colors. This is a fun way to wear it, on the bag.
I'll leave that on there and I'll show you another accessory that we like to use. Again, I like to fold the two points so they don't stick out; and voilà! You have a bracelet. This is at the same top, only it's in white. But you want to make it look different when you are going out. So we like to tie in here.
My favorite look for summer is wearing it on the head and it protects your hair from the sun. This dress is one of a kind and it was actually made of scarves, it's just four scarves that were cut-out and sewn together; and it's made specially for you.
