Audra: It's always an option when do you really need to buy travel insurance? Jeanette Povini is here and she’s got better ways to save when it comes to protecting your trip, your health and you money.
Jeanette: Traveler’s insurance is one of those things that can either save you a bundle or be a big waste of money if you don’t know exactly what’s covered and what restrictions apply. You know actually before you buy a policy, you may already have partial coverage and not even know it. you might find your covered for personal items and emergency medical care through your homeowners or renters policy, your credit cards, your auto club or your health insurance.
So make sure you check those policies so you don’t pay for duplicate coverage but you don’t want to be left high and dry. If you find yourself in situations like the travel agency goes bankrupt or you have to be evacuated from your hotel due to weather, you also want to be covered for emergency medical care if you have an accident or if you need to be airlifted. And if you have an illness tat prevents you from traveling, you may not be covered if the illness is due to a preexisting condition.
So, as always, read the fine print and you may want to buy your insurance from an independent third party insurance company.
Audra: thanks a lot Jeanette. And Friday, she’s got the secrets to making those sheets and towels last longer.
