When You Should See a Doctor for Back Pain

Laurie: Hi, I'm Laurie from Westwood. My question is I have occasional back pain. When should I see a doctor?

Jeffery Wang: Lorie, that's a great question. A lot of people have back pain. The first thing to understand it is very common. If you a occasional back pain, it is probably nothing to worry about. However, if you get start getting more consistent back pain, if it gets very severe, to the point what really bothers you and it's not getting any better, at that point I think you should see your doctor and have him do a full evaluation.

In general, back pain is very common, not to be too concerned about it unless lasts for a long period of time. When you start getting nerve pain that's where it gets a little bit more serious and if you have leg pain or arm pain in addition to your back pain, that's when I recommend, you see your physician.
