That is all you need to do to get your blade nice and tight. Now you do not have to wrestle this thing when you need to loosen it later. Now we are going to clean the forest blade and there are number of ways you can do this and I would say the less caustic of the material you use, the better. You do not really need to get nasty stuff on those.
Alright, so Rockler sells these great little kits. It is the shallow bin, you know, so you could actually pour the liquid out when you need to and it comes with the peach and resin remover that they also sell separately.
Now, honestly, I have yet to find out exactly what is in the stuff but it smells very citrus so it reminds me one those natural citrus cleaners. But you can use things like simple green, do not use over cleaner or degreaser because that stuff can actually weaken the bond of the card by tips to the blade itself and you do not want those things flying around your shop.
Okay so I empty the whole container into there and I actually just drop my blade in, the whole thing. Do not let it splash on your face because it is bad. Switch it around a little bit and makes sure the blade is fully covered. Now I got a couple of router bits that re pretty dirty too. So I am going to throw those in there while I am at it. Let them hang out. And I give that about 10 minutes to soak.
Now it has been about 10 minutes so our blade is ready to be brushed. I use a little acid brush like this it is all it takes to clean that off there. You do not really nee to get much more aggressive than that so see if you can get a nice tight shot of this. You see all the smutch here, that is going to make a really, really it is going to make it seem like a blade as really dull when in fact, it is really not that bad.
So you get the teeth and you could use one of those scotch brite pods for this if you want to but I like the brush, it seems like it is, you know, it is a lot less aggressive. Okay I just go around and we got some material here that is made of ring around the outside. That is bad news too. Okay and I keep going around until the whole thing is clean. Make sure you get inside on the front face of the teeth as well.
Now that the blade is cleaned off, just pull it out of the peach and resin remover then dry it off. Just use a paper towel. Now sometimes, I will actually rinse it with water. It depend son how I feel about the keys. Now make sure you dry it thoroughly.
In fact, I typically use a blow dryer to make sure that those teeth have absolutely no moisture on them before I put it away. Okay, I will let that dry. I will come to that and dry it more later.
Okay, now this peach and resin remover is reusable and that is why this little container here is awesome with a pour spout on it. And I actually pour this material back into the bottle and I use it again later. And I think this bottle is probably about three, maybe four years old and I just keep reusing the same stuff. You loose a little bit each time but, you know, purchase is once and it lasts four years that is not bad.
