When to Apply to Law School

Derek Meeker: Hi there, my name is Derek Meeker and I’m a senior Law School Consultant for admissions consultants; a consulting firm for inspiring the college, business, medical, graduate and law school applicants. Today, I’m going to be answering some questions about law school admission process.

Male: When do I need to apply?

Derek: The earlier the better. Some law schools have deadlines as early as February 1, some have deadlines as late as June but you don’t want to wait until the deadline to apply. Most law schools make offers of admission on a rolling basis so they’re making decisions as applications are coming in the door. So I would say you would be in the best position if you got your application in the fall.

I tell clients that thanksgiving is a good guide to use as their deadline for applying. Admissions Committees will make offers into the winter and spring and even as late as summer. It’s just that as time goes on there are fewer and fewer seats available and you want to be in the best position you can be in to increase your chances for admission.
