Lorin: My name is Lorin; I am from Boston. I have been on the birth control pill for ten years and I am wondering how long is too long to be on birth control pills? Petra Casey: Thanks Lorin. This is a very important question; lots of women are wondering about this, as they delay their childbearing longer as well as start perhaps on an oral contraceptive pill earlier in their lives. Their has been no evidence that long-term oral contraceptive use has extra risks, and many women can continue on an oral contraceptive from the time that they no longer wish to have children through the time of perimenopause and into their early menopausal years.
