Rhiannon Alley: Speaking of design, most people think that interior designers would only
shop at the finest design showroom around town spending a lot of cash but
actually they’re like us when it comes to shopping for themselves, there
are always handing for those hidden gems at the best bargain prices they
can find. Our room designer Jennifer Adams is here to let the secret loss
and to share with us all the top designers favorite and special shopping
spots. This is unavailable so you guys aren’t out spending thousands of
dollars on every little item.
Jennifer Adams: Oh people coming to my house and they say you really got that wear and
we are not suppose to share the secrets but we are going because it makes
us shopping for other people so much easier so I question some of the top
designer around the country and said okay, you tell where do you really
shop even if won’t tell your clients but tell us now so that we can put on
TV.
Rhiannon Alley: That’s right given us the good, we want to find the best deals out there.
Jennifer Adams: So start with our very own margins, it says where do you shop?
Rhiannon Alley: He is fabulous.
Jennifer Adams: He is.
Rhiannon Alley: He got the best style.
Jennifer Adams: He does and so what’s he said is he tries to think of items that are
unexpected and unexpected places and repurposing things. So he has as
great stone, round phenol that he has out in his garden and it’s gorgeous.
Rhiannon Alley: It is gorgeous.
Jennifer Adams: And he got it in the pair from a garden shop of all places and he got one
and he brought it inside on the table and put it there with his accessories,
with his books and with his floral arrangement and so you brings an items
from the outside and puts them in and so garden shop that was his big
thing of went shop.
Rhiannon Alley: So not spending to that just go into the garden shop and buying something
and then accessorizing.
Jennifer Adams: Very inexpensive.
Rhiannon Alley: Very easy.
Jennifer Adams: The do hotels all around the world and they’ve in the LA Times, Wall
Street Journal, Travel Amnesia like I’d go on that consumer shop, is there
a big fight. Jim’s they’ve found this huge eight foot tall mirror by five feet
wide for $500.
Rhiannon Alley: Unbelievable.
Jennifer Adams: So the shop— it’s going to be thousands of dollars elsewhere. So there is
no shame in getting something if someone else is already use and it’s
actually eco friendly and you can repurpose things so the consumer shops
all over. Now if you go to resell your items to the shop you very careful
when you do that to make sure it’s a very reputable company because you
don’t know where to go your money. But when you go in to just purchase
something have that it and just have fun. One of my designers on the West
Coats Skit, she likes home good very inexpensive place you found this
white locker table for $34 it’s very hot and very hip and it could be
something as the trendy piece you don’t want to spend a lot of money but
the home good stores it’s amazing what you can find.
Rhiannon Alley: You can plates for like $2 in home goods.
Jennifer Adams: And that’s okay to use because you can mix and match some of those
pieces into your more expensive pieces that you got. So then I took to
material girls they have an online blog that talks about pop culture, trends
design, lifestyle and really what’s hot and current at
comematerialgirls.com. They said home goods is one of there favorite
places too and one of the owners of the blog actually found this great lamp
for I think $69. And then the crystal bookends on the same right next to
the lamp, $29 and it adds a great texture and great element so if you just
search through this type of stores.
Rhiannon Alley: Unbelievable.
Jennifer Adams: Marshals is another one this just like that. My personal favorite I am so
embarrass to even say the name of the place because it’s sound so attacker,
that’s called Furniture for Last. Do they have all of the different catalogs
at all the different stores used and it is the big warehouse. So now you
really have to dig and really know what you are doing when you go in
there but my sofa which would cost me at least $8,000 to get made from
my normal sofa manufactures $1100 for the fabric, for the down I got to
customize the depth to see the height.
Rhiannon Alley: That’s unbelievable so you can decorate for cheap. That’s great and thanks
you so much. Jennifer Adams and for other great insider information to all
the best keep design secret out there go to bettertv.com and you can check
