Hi! My name is Bryan Stevens; I am a former insurance agent and financial consultant. And I want to show you how to compare a health insurance to get the cheapest rate. You have four basic plans to consider when you are comparing comprehensive health insurance. First, Indemnity Plans, this plans let you use physicians in hospital of your choice. Your insurance company pays the percentage of your bills, usually 80% and you are responsible for the remaining 20%. There are yearly deductibles, that is the amount you pay before your insurance company starts paying claims. In some companies set a life time limit on the total amount of benefits they will pay. Indemnity plans are the most flexible, involve the most paper work, and are the most costly health insurance plans. Second, Health Maintenance Organizations or HMOs. This plans such you up with that network of physicians and hospitals. You pay on a monthly fee and your provider pays for physician visits, hospital cost and prescription drugs. You must choose a primary care physician who oversees your medical care. HMO are the list flexible, involve the least paper work and are the least expensive plans. Third, Preferred Provider Organizations or PPOs. Like HMOs, this plan sets you up with the network of the hospitals and physicians. But unlike HMOs, you pay for your medical services and are then re-inbursed by your insurer. PPO’s required co-payments, that are the percentage of the bill that you pay and if you use a non-network physician or hospital you pay a larger portion of your bill, then if you use the network physician or hospital. PPOs are more flexible than HMOs, involve a little more paper work and cost slightly more than HMOs. And fourth, Point of Service Plans, or POSS. This plans also set you up with a network of health care providers. Like in HMO, you must choose a primary care physician that over see your health care. But unlike an HMO you may choice to see physicians outside the network for additional fee. These plans are more flexible than HMOs and PPOs, involve less paper work than PPOs and cost more than HMOs or PPOs.
